Parkinson’s Foundation Hosts Annual Moving Day Twin Cities Fundraiser
A Powerful Day of Movement to Advance the Fight Against Parkinson’s Disease
Plymouth, Minn.—The Parkinson’s Foundation’s Minnesota and Dakotas Chapter annual fundraising event Moving Day will be held on May 3 at the Hilde Performance Center & Park in Plymouth, Minnesota. The event raises funds for Parkinson’s disease research and resources. Participants will have access to a family-friendly course walk, children’s area, resource tents about Parkinson’s and an interactive Movement Pavilion.
The Parkinson’s Foundation aims to raise $30,000 through this year’s Moving Day. Participants can support by donating, attending the event, walking the course, or joining virtually from home. The Movement Pavilion includes rock climbing, boxing, and physical therapy. Everyone has a chance to participate, make an impact and stand with the Parkinson’s community.
For those unable to attend in person, Moving Day @ Home allows everyone to participate from anywhere. Participants can join the Parkinson’s community virtually and still make an impact. This option ensures everyone has the chance to move and connect with the community, no matter where they are.
“Moving Day brings together stories of resilience, and each year we’re honored to amplify those voices as a community,” says Minnesota and Dakotas Chapter Senior Development Manager, Laurel Grimm. “It’s truly inspiring to witness the determination from everyone to move, support and rise above Parkinson’s together.”

About Parkinson’s Disease
Affecting an estimated 1 million Americans, Parkinson’s disease is the second-most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s and is the 14th-leading cause of death in the U.S. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for Parkinson’s and nearly 90,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the U.S.

Overview of the Parkinson’s Foundation
The Parkinson’s Foundation was founded in 1957. It is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The foundation aims to support lives through improved care and advancing research for a cure. The Parkinson’s Foundation’s impact has reached millions of people through its resources and education.
Understanding Parkinson’s Disease
PD is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement, causing symptoms such as tremors, stiffness and balance issues. Nearly 1 million people in the United States are living with PD and 90,000 people are diagnosed each year.
Programs and Initiatives
The Parkinson Foundation funds groundbreaking research, provides free resources and supports care partners. Key initiatives like the Parkinson’s Foundation Global Care Network gives individuals with PD opportunities to access high-quality care and provide health professionals the chance to advance and share their knowledge, while PD GENEration provides genetic testing and genetic counseling at no cost for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD).
Impact and Advocacy: Moving Day
The Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day walk is an annual fundraising event held in communities across the country. Moving Day celebrates movement and brings communities together. The event incorporates exercise activities that help manage PD, such as walking, yoga, dance and physical therapy. Since its launch in 2011, more than 202,000 participants have attended Moving Day and raised over $50 million for the foundation’s mission.
